Soul B Academy is prepared to offer a summer reading course to prepare students reading at a higher level. The purpose of this course is to show students how to identify/recall letters and sounds, sight words, CVC words, and create rhyming words. Most importantly, your child will be exposed to the strategies to lay the foundation for a proficient reader.
The course will offer 6 sessions (2 hours each) that provide a myriad of activities and skills to improve reading skills.
Letter and Sound Recognition
Tracking print
Sight Word identification
Blending sounds together
Reading CVC Words (at, bat, cat, sat, mat)
Reading CVCe Words (ate, made, lace, game)
Recognize and create rhyming words
Understanding simple text with comprehension questions (who, what, when, where, why)
Selection of classes:
You have the option to choose between 1 class or 6 classes. Each class is scheduled to last 2 hours long. If you select 6 classes, then your child will receive all of the additional materials that comes with this course. With this price, we are including some major BONUSES as well.

My daughter is a rising 4K scholar, but was struggling with letter recognition & their sounds. I placed her in this summer literacy course, & within her 8 days of attendance, she was recognizing the majority of her letters, their sounds, & other words that began with those letters. An added bonus was her beginning to sound out & identify sight words to begin reading, as well as developing skills to understand the sequencing & order of songs/stories.
She received materials daily so that we could work with her at home, & we fell in LOVE with the Soulful Alphabet cards, poster, & writing journal we received she received during the camp! Hearing my child recall her letters with words that are rooted in our culture made my heart smile!

Soulful Beginnings has been a great experience for our son, who just turn 4 years old in March. He is currently attending Montessori school, where he has been since he turned age 3. He is recognizing letters along with the sounds. The teacher is great with the kids and very patient. You really feel like you are part of something special being in Soulful Beginnings camp.

I can not express how thankful I am for Alanda! My son struggled with recognizing his alphabet when we would point to random letters. By the 3rd day of having the 2hour sessions he could say and point to the alphabet with the exception of 5letters by the 5th session 5went to 3letters and he’s now reading sight words!!! 🙌🏽🙌🏽🙌🏽 Worth the investment!
