Building good readers involves developing decoding and fluency skills for the student. Decoding happens when students use their knowledge of letters and sounds to correctly pronounce words.
This resource can be used to help students master targeted skills in any phonics curriculum. The students will use short a vowel patterns and the sound chips to understand how the sounds work together to make words. The ultimate goal here is for students to learn how develop letter-sound proficiency to recognize the parts of the word (pattern) to increase their ability to read unknown words.
